Steven Levine APTA HoD Student Grant
About the Grant
The Steven Levine APTA House of Delegates Student Grant provides funding for a PT or PTA student FPTA member to attend the APTA House of Delegates — an APTA policymaking body which meets annually and makes decisions on issues that may have far-reaching implications for the association and for the profession of physical therapy. The House also elects national APTA leadership. The recipient of the Steven Levine APTA House of Delegates Student Grant will receive up to $1,400 to attend.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the grant, potential recipients must:
- Be studying to become a physical therapist or PT assistant.
- Be an FPTA member for at least six months prior to applying.
- Have demonstrated evidence of professional involvement in their PT/PTA program — as well as involvement in FPTA District level, Chapter level and/or national (APTA) level activity.
Within three months of returning from the meeting, the grant recipient will be required to provide an oral or written presentation of their House of Delegates experience to students/faculty in their respective academic program; provide a written submission to the FPTA Update; or present at a District meeting.
Application Requirements
The following documents are required for submission:
- A letter from the applicant, not to exceed one page, detailing the following:
- Why the applicant would like to attend APTA House of Delegates.
- Involvement with professional activities in their academic program, district, Chapter, or APTA level.
- One letter of support/recommendation, not to exceed one page, from a faculty member of the applicant’s PT/PTA program. The letter should specifically focus on the strengths of the student in relation to the criteria for selection.
