Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

A political action committee (PAC) is a government designated organization and regulated by both federal and state laws. A PAC pools campaign contributions from members and donates those funds to campaigns for or against candidates, ballot initiatives, or legislation. The legal term PAC has been created in pursuit of campaign finance reforms in the United States. This term is quite specific to all activities of units of campaign spending or spending on political competition.

FPTA-PAC is only supported through the personal or corporate contributions collected. No FPTA dues are contributed to FPT-PAC. The one-on-one conversations between FPTA leaders and decision-makers assure the voice of the profession is heard. FPT-PAC is regulated by the Florida Secretary of State within the Division of Elections. Florida-based Political Action Committees are heavily regulated and must abide by rules and regulations regarding both the collection and expenditure of funds collected supporting PAC activities, such as spending on campaigns for state-wide office, the legislature, or local government campaigns. FPTA does not contribute to the FPT-PAC. However, the FPTA does provide financial accounting, staffing oversight and executive staff management and engages a CPA firm to annually review the State of Florida reports required for Political Action Activities.
