Segmental Mobility & Contractile Integration in Foot Function: Enhancing Dynamic Weight-Bearing Efficiency

TICKET REQUIRED

Functional weight-bearing requires an interdependent relationship of motion amongst all segments of the foot/ankle. Clinicians should be cognizant of how all segments rely on the unique function of the extrinsic musculature to control the combined motion of the foot/ankle. The purpose of this masterclass is to present the kinetics of the transverse tarsal, tarsometatarsal, metatarsophalangeal, and medial/lateral segments of the foot while emphasizing the dynamic function of the contractile elements. Lab presentations and practice will offer the participant hands-on experience to facilitate learning to clinical practice. The use of case presentations shall facilitate discussions and application to clinical use. Participants will be involved in hands-on guided practice to facilitate self-appraisal of their performance to identify areas of both bias and self-improvement.
